DEEP DIVE

How to Create Lead-Generating Content
Content should always be entertaining or informative. I’m going to do a deep dive into creating informative content. Mostly because once I’m in person or on a Zoom call- that’s where the entertaining comes in😉
😮Start with a problem
It’s Consumerism 101– everyone has problems, and it’s on you to sell a solution. The most common question I’m asked is, how do I find my target customer’s problem?
OpenAI's GPT-4 model has a knowledge cutoff date of December 2023, meaning it doesn't have information about events or developments that occurred after that time. We need data that is current, that is why I start with Perplexity.
Prompt: Give me the 10 trending topics for [your job role]
I used consultants as my example here (hi, there’s a lot of you in my audience!)
🤔How do I translate this?
type this prompt into Claude
Prompt: You are tasked with developing a LinkedIn blog post for lead generation for the following 10 topics:
[paste your 10 relevant topics]
For each topic, follow these steps:
Introduction: Start with a hook that grabs the reader’s attention.
Background: Provide context and importance of the topic.
Key Insights: Include 3-5 key points or insights related to the topic.
Real-world Examples: Share one or two examples or case studies.
Call-to-Action: End with a compelling call-to-action to generate leads.
🎨Make It Visual
As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. I’ve been using Babbily to create images that go with my content. Use this code for 10% off.
🧑🍳Own Your Audience
Having a following on X or LinkedIn is cool, but you are renting that audience. If you want to own your audience, you need to build an email list (I’m a fan).
For the call to action, tweak it to say something along the lines of “If this resonated with you, fill out the form in the comments"
Create a free Typeform and post the link in the comments.
Keep it simple: ask name, email address, and a multiple choice question to answer “How can I help you?”
Slowly but surely, you can build an email list, you can also automate this to fill out a CRM like Hubspot, but one thing at a time ;)
🚀Bonus Points
If you want to start making video content (which you should), here’s what you need to know about hooks:
They need to create context
clarity
and curiosity
Here are some examples of good hooks:
I bet I can change your mind about [your job, etc.] in 20 seconds
I just experienced the most (embarrassment/adrenaline) in my life
This [specific] tip will save you [specific] hours
This [feature] is why I bought [specific thing you use every day]
Why am I the only one talking about [specific]
This [product/event, etc.] has the craziest feature!
Try this tip next when doing [specific]
Seeing how quickly I can do [specific]
Go back to your Perplexity prompt and look at the trending topics in your field to fill out the [specific] sections.
🕵️♀️ Why is this important?
60% of decision-makers say that good thought leadership makes them willing to pay a premium to work with an organization that produces it.
